JOYCE MAGDELENE CIELEN
1944 - 2013
Joyce, surrounded by the love of family,
passed on to eternal rest on August 2, 2013.
Family and friends feel a deepened sadness at
her passing.
Leaving to mourn, is her loving and devoted
brother Lorne ( Gail) and the love of her life,
her nephew Trevor as well as numerous aunts,
uncles and cousins. A great number of family
and friends will each find a way to keep the
memories and special moments alive in their
hearts that they have shared with Joyce. She
brought richness to the family that will never
be forgotten.
Joyce was born to Joseph and Veronica
Cielen, attended schools in Winnipeg’s North
End and began a long fulfilling career as an
Admittance Clerk with the Health Sciences
Centre. The career which lasted over 30 years
culminated in her reaching the next phase of
her life. Retirement allowed Joyce to devote
even more time to her passions of gardening,
travelling and dancing. Her love for all living
things was not more evident than the care she
gave her many family dogs over the years.
They were constant companions and ever so
precious to her. Her flower and rock garden
was a vision of beauty and peacefulness. This
beauty and peacefulness extended to another
aspect of Joyce’s life. Her concern for others:
being it the taking of food to a shut- in
neighbour; pushing them in their wheelchair to
go shopping or lending an ear to listen to their
trials and tribulations, will be cherished for
many years. She was a gracious lady, a loyal
friend and a loving aunt.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on
Thursday, August 8 at 10: 30 a. m. at St. Joseph’s
Roman Catholic Church, Mountain and
Andrews. Interment will be alongside her
mother and father in Holy Ghost Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider
contributing to the Society for Manitobans with
Disabilities or a charity of your choice.

ROBERT JOHN KENNEDY
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we
announce the passing of our Father on July 20,
2013, at the Portage District General Hospital
with his daughter Leslie by his side.
Dad or “ Bob” as he was known to his close
friends and family was born on November 3,
1945 in Winnipeg, MB to Harold and Marjorie
Kennedy. Dad was raised in Oakville, MB
before setting up roots in Saskatchewan,
Thompson, Winnipeg and Ste. Rose Du Lac but
it was Oakville that he always called “ Home”.
It was in the 1980s that Dad started his
Career as an Addictions Counsellor. He was a
great listener, easy to talk to, never
judgemental and more than anything he
understood. He took great pride in knowing that
what he did helped people. He could do many
things, but the thing he did best was being a
Father. Dad never missed a hockey, ringette,
soccer or baseball game, he was always there
cheering us on. He was always there when you
needed him. There was never a dull moment, he
loved to laugh and had a sense of humour like
no other which he maintained right up to his
final days.
He will be forever missed and leaves to
mourn our mom Laverne Karlsen; his children:
Grant ( Laurie) Kennedy, Kelli ( Brad) Jackson,
Leslie ( Jeff) Peterson, and Rob ( Lori) Kennedy;
grandchildren: Katie, Moira, Jayden, Teryl,
Ayden, Kristin, Kaylee, Jordyn, Mackenzie and
Kole; his sister Alice Grant; brother Bill
( Sharon) Kennedy of Oakville, MB, and his best
friends Jack McLeod and Verlynne Dahl as well
as several nieces and nephews. He was
predeceased by his parents Harold and
Marjorie Kennedy, brother- in- law Jack Grant,
and sisters- in- law Maxine Dahl and Marlene
Carlson.
We would like to extend a very special thankyou
to dad’s big sister Alice for being there for
him, as well as the nurses at the Lions Prairie
Manor, especially Jackie, Kim and Darlene.
A service will be held Saturday, August 10 at
3: 00 p. m., at the Oakville Cemetery. A gathering
will follow at the Oakville Seniors Hall.

sudden passing of Raymond Legault on August
5, 2013 at the Grace Hospital.
Ray was an amazing husband, father, brother,
uncle, grandfather and friend to all. Ray’s true
joy was his grandchildren. He was either
driving to watch their sports or finding
someone to brag to about their accomplishments.
He was everyone’s handyman and would
never say no to anyone needing help. Ray was
an active member of the Anavets Assiniboia
Unit 283 and a longstanding member with the
Knights of Columbus.
Ray will be forever remembered by his wife
