Winnipeg Free Press (Newspaper) - August 7, 2013, Winnipeg, Manitoba B6 www. passages. winnipegfreepress. com WINNIPEG FREE PRESS, WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 7, 2013 TEST GAY MANN ( nee ROSENBERG) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and Grammama, Gay Mann. Gay slipped away quietly in her sleep August 4, 2013 at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 59. Her long and arduous battle with Leukemia may have taken a toll on her physically but it never damped her indomitable spirit. Left to mourn her passing is husband Robert; daughter Brandi, son- in- law Sean Burton, and the love of her life grandson Dane as well as the granddaughter yet to arrive; son Paul and Jocelyne Ferland, along with her brother Alan ( Sandy) Rosenberg, sister- in- law Gayle Smokal, four nephews and a niece in addition to many extended family members and friends. Gay loved to do many things but none no more than to be around her family, cooking, working in her gardens or making a home. She was known for always finding the best in people or the bright side of situations. It was her always positive attitude that helped many through trying times and made her a joy to be around. The family would also like to give a special thank you to all of the staff on GD6 at Health Sciences Centre and the Treatment Centre and Clinic 4 at CancerCare Manitoba. Their outstanding care, support and friendship made Gay’s onerous struggle more bearable. The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 10: 00 a. m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada or a charity of your choice. Her battle was brief, but she fought it with dignity, grace, and courage - never making anyone feel uncomfortable in her presence. Bev was born November 19, 1944. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, John; son Dale and his wife Mareth and two beautiful grandchildren whom she was so proud of, Daelle Lynn and Gregory; daughter Stacey and her partner Neil McCuaig. She is also survived by her mother Katherine Pasieka, sister Paulene Pasieka ( Peter Wells), brother Donovan Pasieka ( Diana), and niece Dawn Michelle Trevisanutto and her family. Also left to cherish her memory is her mother- in- law Sophie, sister- in- law Shirley DeVuono ( Gino), and their sons James, Rick, and families. Bev was a member of the Transcona Garden Club; her beautiful gardens are a testament to her love of flowers. She was a sought after judge with the Horticultural Society, an achievement she was extremely proud of. Bev was also a huge presence at Park Manor Personal Care Home where she volunteered countless hours. Every Friday was “ Beauty Club”, and no matter how she was feeling off she went to paint the ladies’ nails. She was loved by the residents and staff alike. Bev and John are in a neighbourhood that is a close community, she will be greatly missed by her neighbours. Especially her “ Sweetheart” Glen and wife Debbie, as well as Sue and Terry. A Celebration of Bev’s life will be held at 2: 00 p. m., Monday, August 12, 2013 at Park Manor Personal Care Home, 301 Redonda St., Winnipeg, MB, R2C 1L7.
