Tomas Tatar tallied two goals and an assist as the
Detroit Red Wings cooled off the hot Nashville
Predators in a 5- 2 victory on Saturday. Gustav
Nyquist tallied a goal and an assist, Henrik Zetterberg
and Kyle Quincey each scored and Pavel
Datsyuk, Riley Sheahan and Niklas Kronwall each
had two assists. Detroit netminder Petr Mrazek
turned aside 34- of- 36 shots in the Red Wings'
third straight win. Mike Fisher and Mattias Ekholm
each lit the lamp as Nashville had its five- game
winning streak come to an end. The Predators
also entered the contest with at least a point in
each of their previous 10 games ( 8- 0- 2). Marek
Mazanec made 18 saves in relief of Carter Hutton,
who allowed three goals on just four shots.

Devan Dubnyk stopped 25 shots against his
former team as the Minnesota WIld beat the Arizona
Coyotes 3- 1 on Saturday. Dubnyk, who was
coming off an 18- save shutout in his Wild debut
on Thursday, was acquired by Minnesota from
Arizona on Wednesday in exchange for a 2015
third- round draft pick. Jason Zucker's goal in the
second period was the deciding marker and Charlie
Coyle and Zach Parise also scored for the Wild,
who have won back- to- back games after a sixgame
skid. Antoine Vermette scored and Mike
Smith gave up two goals on 32 shots for the Coyotes,
who have started their eight- game road trip
with fourth straight losses.

Toronto Maple Leafs 3- 0 on Saturday night. Kevin
Shattenkirk, Alexander Steen and T. J. Oshie
scored for the Blues, who were coming off a 3- 2
overtime loss to Detroit on Thursday. They are
4- 0- 1 on a seven- game homestand. Elliott made
15 saves in the first period, four in the second and
stopped eight shots in the third for his 28th career
shutout. Jonathan Bernier allowed three goals on
33 shots for the Maple Leafs, who went 0- 4 on a
four- game road trip that also included losses to
Los Angeles, Anaheim and San Jose. They are
3- 12 in their last 15. Shattenkirk scored the only
goal St. Louis needed 16: 40 into the first period,
stick- handling past Maple Leafs forwards Tyler
Bozak and James van Riemsdyk to beat Bernier

final minute as the Columbus Blue Jackets ended
a four- game losing streak with a 3- 1 win over the
Boston Bruins on Saturday night. Ryan Johansen
had a goal and an assist for the Blue Jackets, who
stopped Boston's five- game winning streak and
handed the Bruins their first loss since a 6- 2 rout
at Columbus on Dec. 27. Johansen extended his
point streak to 13 games. Atkinson snapped an
11- game pointless string with his primary assist
on Calvert's first goal. Bruins forward Brad Marchand

over the Los Angeles Kings. Silfverberg was Anaheim's

then stopped Marian Gaborik's backhand

Viktor Fasth made 35 saves on 37 shots in
regulation and overtime play to help Edmonton
snap a three- game losing skid overall. Matt Hendricks
tied the game in the third with a shorthanded
goal and Jordan Eberle also scored for the
Oilers.

remaining to give the Carolina Hurricanes a 3- 2
win over the Ottawa Senators. Justin Faulk had a
goal and an assist and Brad Malone also scored
for the Hurricanes, who have won two of their last
three. Anton Khudobin stopped 30 shots in the
win. Cody Ceci and Mark Stone scored for the
Senators, who have lost two of three. Craig
Anderson stopped 25 shots in the loss. Late in the
game with the score tied, Gerbe gave the Hurricanes
the lead as his wrister from the slot found
the back of the net after a long sequence in the
Ottawa end. Ottawa pulled Anderson with over a
minute to play, but was unable to net the equalizer.
Carolina took a 1- 0 lead into the first intermission
as Patrick Dwyer used a quick chip out
front to get the puck to Malone, who tapped it in
with just 32 seconds showing on the clock.

Sean Monahan scored the game- winning goal 24
seconds into overtime to lift the Calgary Flames
to a 4- 3 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Saturday.
Paul Byron won a faceoff back to Mark
Giordano, who skated across the blue line and
backhanded a shot on net. Monahan was there in
front to slip the rebound pass Antti Niemi for the
win. Joe Colborne tallied a goal and an assist,
Dennis Wideman and Jiri Hudler also scored and
Giordano supplied two assists for the Flames,
who won their third straight game. Joni Ortio
made 19 saves and has now won all three of his
NHL starts. Thornton tied Norm Ullman for 38th
