FROMHOLD ( HOLDE) AMMETER 1924 - 2015 Peacefully at Rosewood Lodge in Stonewall, Holde passed away on the evening of January 31, 2015. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Silvia, brother Eric, sister Trudy ( John), sisterin- law Lydia, sister- in- law Alwyn, nieces and nephews Pamela Campbell ( Howard), Kathryn Harrison ( Wayne), Geordie Ammeter, Bill Ammeter ( Diane), Heather Lepine ( Martin), Linda Park ( Dan), Susan Magas ( Paul), Robyn Magas and Erin Magas ( Mark) as well as 17 grand- nieces and grand- nephews and three great- grand- nieces. Holde was predeceased by his brothers Gerhard, Roland and Hank, his nephew Eugene, and his parents Gottfried and Rosa. Holde was born in Karabulach, Russia on February 5, 1924. In 1929, with his parents, he moved to Canada and the family built a dairy farm in Starbuck. In 1949, he, along with his parents and brothers Roland and Eric, purchased a dairy farm in Stony Mountain, where he continued to dedicate his life to farming. In later years when his health began to fail, he was able to continue farming until age 90, thanks to his nephew Bill. Holde met Silvia in 1975, and on his birthday on February 5, 1976, they were married. Holde and Silvia had no children but Holde played a pivotal role in the raising of nephew Eugene and nieces, Pam and Kathy. All the children in Holde’s extended family grew up on an unlimited supply of fresh milk. Holde was a dedicated member of Christ Lutheran Church in Winnipeg. Silvia and family thank everyone who supported them through Holde’s illness and the excellent staff at Stonewall Hospital and Rosewood Lodge. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 6 at 11: 00 a. m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Les treasured his family, son Matthew and daughter- in- law Michelle, his granddaughters Emily and Kaitlyn, his sisters Nedra ( John) and Irene, and many nieces and nephews. Les is predeceased by his parents Lewnton and Louisa, his brother Jim and his brother- in- law Brian. Born in Basingstoke, England, Les attended school until 1941 and started work with an engineering firm until he left to join the Royal Air Force. Les immigrated to Canada in 1977 to Thompson, MB where he worked for Inco from 1977 until his retirement. Les was a gentle, kind and quiet man who took every opportunity to spend time with his family. Les was very proud of his son, and his granddaughters brought him great joy. He made sure everyone knew about his family and how important they were to him. Thank you to the many doctors, nurses and aides who helped care for Leslie over the years, including Dr. R. J. Hayward; thank you to those at St. Norbert Personal Care Home who ensured his comfort and happiness the past two years. We miss his smiles, his enthusiasm and support and his special way of letting us know how much he loved us. We love you, miss you greatly and will remember you always. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald Street 204- 253- 5086 TEST TEST JACK THEODORE KUCHERAWY February 19, 1935 - Sifton, Manitoba January 29, 2015 - Calgary, Alberta Jack loved to travel and he departed on his final journey to his eternal home on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the age of 79 years after a difficult struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Jack Theodore was born on February 19, 1935, the youngest child of Michael and Annie ( nee Lulashnyk) in the Sifton, MB area. He grew up and attended school in Sifton until Grade 12, which he studied in Meunster, SK. He completed his B. A. from the University of Western Ontario in 1957 and his B. Ed. from the University of Manitoba in 1967. Jack also spent time in Quebec and Tours, France where he attended French language summer schools. Jack and Marilyn ( nee Chisholm) were married on July 8, 1967 and started their married life in Killarney, MB. For the school year 1968 to 1969 they moved to Plessisville, QC where he taught English as a second language to French speaking high school students. On returning to Killarney, Jack and Marilyn organized many fund raising projects with his Grade 12 French students. He did this for two different years so that he could take the class for a week to Quebec to experience the language and culture. In the summer of 1975 he was selected by the Canadian Teachers’ Federation to travel to Bangkok, Thailand for two months to teach English as a second language to Thai school teachers. Over the course of his life, Jack became fluent in five languages. After 22 years of teaching high school French in various places in Manitoba and sitting on committees at the local and provincial levels of the Manitoba Teachers’ Society, he moved his family to Calgary in 1979 where he attended S. A. I. T. for a year and earned his Canadian Institute of Travel Consultants Certificate. Jack fulfilled his dreams of travel by visiting Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and numerous sites in North and South America until his retirement in 2000 from the AMA main office. Jack was devoted to his family, his faith and was an advocate for youth development. He was involved with the Navy League of Canada as his children moved through the ranks of NLCC Captain Jackson and RCSCC Undaunted Corps. He volunteered innumerable hours at the local, provincial and national levels of the organization. He was recognized for his untiring service by receiving The Queen’s 50th Jubilee Medal in 2003. In his retirement, he was honored to be asked to join the committee to establish Juno Beach Academy, once again volunteering many hours before and after its reality. Jack is survived by his supportive wife of 47 years, Marilyn; his daughter Andrea ( her partner Lana); his son Trevor ( Melissa) and his precious granddaughter Naya. He is also survived by his sister Stella Locker; six nieces, two nephews and their families. He will forever be remembered as the perfect gentleman! He was predeceased by his father Michael ( 1957), his mother Annie ( 1971), his brother Walter ( 1944) and sisters Mary Burak ( 2004) and Pauline Ganczar ( 1992). Jack was truly fortunate to spend his last months in the caring, understanding and gentle hands of the staff at Bethany Harvest Hills. TEST TEST ROSALIE ELIZA LEVASSEUR ( nee LETENDRE) February 12, 1934 - January 28, 2015 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Rosalie on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 80 years. She leaves behind to mourn: her brother Clare Letendre; her son Clare Dickinson ( Jennifer); three grandchildren: Miranda Boland ( Paul), and Tyler and Tanner Dickinson. She was predeceased by her husband Henri Levasseur in 2013, her brother Paul in 2008, and her parents Rupert and Susan Letendre. Rosalie was born in St. Boniface and spent her teenage years attending St. Mary’s Academy. She started a career with the Canada Revenue Agency, Taxation Department, and was eventually transferred to Ontario. It was there that she gave birth to her only son Clare in Oakville, ON in 1970. After a move back to Winnipeg in 1973 to be closer to family, she obtained a job with the Province of Manitoba as an Aboriginal Court Communicator, where she remained until her retirement. Rosalie’s love for gardening and animals kept her busy during her retirement years. It was during those years that she ran into her childhood sweetheart, Henri ( Hank) Levasseur and they eventually went on to marry in January of 2003. They shared 10 wonderful years together before his passing and she fondly remembered those as the best of her life. CHARLES ( PAT) PATRICK MCDONALD October 14, 1958 - January 30, 2015 With his family by his side, Pat ( Charles Patrick) McDonald passed away peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2015 after battling ALS for just over a year. His spirit was strong and he fought until the very end. We know he’s in the Salisbury House in heaven, looking down on his family, heart overflowing with love. Pat was loved by so many and will live on in our memories: whether it was a trip to the beach with all his nieces and nephews at the cabin in Grindstone, dancing at his daughter’s wedding, playing at the park with his grandsons, his work at Canadian Linen, cheering at Jets’ games, throwing a baseball around or swimming underwater for what seemed like miles, he’ll never be forgotten. Pat’s four daughters Jessica ( Justin), Rachel and her two sons Jack and Van, Justine and Alainna will carry on his legacy with the help of their mother, Cara McDonald. BERNICE PORTER God truly blessed Bernice with 94 years of life - she peacefully passed away on January 23, 2015 with her family by her side. Bernice had never ending love for her two sons Gary and Bill, she always enjoyed family birthday's and holidays when we were all together. Her great joy in life was when she became a grandmother to Bryn and Branden. Son Bill ( Cheryl), Bryn and Branden will miss her dearly, along with her great wit and humour. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Angie, and children, Kim ( Doug), Shelley ( Randy), Jason ( Marcy), Dawn ( Marvin), Patrick and Michelle, along with his 15 grandchildren and five great- grandchildren. John was the youngest of five children, with sisters Tillie, Rose, Pauline and Mable. He will also be greatly missed by extended family and friends. John was predeceased by his parents, Louie and Annie, son Vern, daughter Kimberly, wife Norma, and brothers- in- law, Mike, Allan, and Ron. John had a great love of spending time with his family and friends, with many backyard barbeques. He was a gentle soul, who fed all of the birds and deer - no matter how cold. He loved looking after his yard and garden, as well as travelling every year to Mexico, where he jumped waves like a young child. John was employed with M. J. Roofing for over 35 years, keeping everyone on their toes. One of the things he loved was being the boss. After his 65th birthday, he decided to retire from M. J. Roofing and then promptly started his own business with the comment, “ he could work his own hours”. Let’s face it, he was a workaholic. John had a great sense of humour, with a laugh that was infectious, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand. Per John’s request, there will not be a formal service and cremation has already taken place with a private family gathering to be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at the Gimli Johnson Memorial Hospital for all their compassion and loving care. They were amazing. A special thanks to Dr. Rohma, Julie, Tanis, Laura, and all homecare staff. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gimli Community Cancer Program or Interlake Eastern R. H. A.
