Theron made
backstage blunder
EVEN celebs can get tongue- tied in the
presence of bigger celebs.
Charlize Theron recounted a good
example on Jimmy Kimmel Live the other
night. A year earlier, she and U. S. President
Barack Obama appeared on the show. As
they waited backstage, Obama said he liked
the show because it has a " younger demographic."
" I didn't know what to say," Theron said.
" All I could come up with was, ' Well, if
you're looking for a different demographic,
I can take you to a strip club.' "
Oops. Obama, realizing she was nervous,
was " gracious and funny" Theron said. But
still, she was so embarrassed, " I couldn't
sleep for four weeks."
Kimmel's comment: " If you'd said that to
president Clinton, you'd probably still be at
that."

Lawrence's tiny tattoo has an error
NEWS you need: Jennifer Lawrence has a small, faint tattoo on the back of her
left hand near the thumb.
It says H2O - as in water - but the little " 2" is high, not low.
She told hitflix. com she was with The Hunger Games co- star Liam Hemsworth
and some of his relatives, and they were all getting tattoos.
She was thinking, " I'm always going to need to be hydrated, so I guess I should
get H2O on my hand. It's literally the most un- rebellious tattoo that anyone could
ever get," she said.
" By the way, I know that the 2 is high and in H2O the 2 is supposed to be low. I
should have Googled it before I got it tattooed on my body forever."
Sharknado to return with sequel
WELL, Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! has come ( and gone, except for innumerable reruns).
The idea of sharks showering down on Washington, D. C., had a certain charm - what, no Ottawa version? - but many critics are
saying the series has, er, jumped the shark. The first two are so bad they're good, but this one was just dreary, or so I read.
Deadline. com called it an " orgy of bad special effects and campy cameos." Los Angeles Times television critic Robert Lloyd wrote,
" Having now watched Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! , I find myself in the position of having to write about it. And I am not sure which is
worse."
Still, there will indeed be a fourth instalment, producers said. The third one ends with a cliffhanger - will Tara Reid's character
April live or die? - and viewers are invited to vote at syfy. com/ sharknado3.
Actor's wife
gives birth to his
granddaughter
ACTOR Lorenzo Lamas, 57, is married to
one Shawna Craig, 29. His daughter from
a previous marriage, Shayne Lamas, also
29, is married to one Nik Richie. Shayne
and Richie have a three- year- old daughter,
Press.
Got all that? Anyway, Shayne and
Richie wanted a second child, but her
child- bearing years ended in 2014, when
she had an ectopic pregnancy that nearly
killed her.
Happily, however, a solution was found:
Craig became the young couple's surrogate,
and on July 4 she gave birth to their
son, Lyon. Closer Weekly had the story
the other day.
So Lorenzo ( remember Falcon Crest ?)
became a grandpa again when his wife
gave birth. Confusing, isn't it?
Anyone else remember the old novelty
song I'm My Own Grandpa ?
Swift's
album title
risks riling
China
TAYLOR Swift's hit album 1989 is named
after her birth year. Naturally, she is
marketing all kinds of related merchandise,
including clothing.
Unfortunately, this is causing some
problems in China, where her initials and
that date remind people of the Tiananmen
Square massacre in June 1989, when
hundreds of pro- democracy protesters
were killed by soldiers in Beijing.
Since then, the Chinese government has
worked industriously to erase the event
from history, banning all mention of it.
Swift is scheduled to launch the 1989
clothing line on two top Chinese retail
websites, Taobao and Jing Dong. But
British newspaper the Telegraph predicts
the authorities will not allow anything
branded " 1989," and adds Taylor's
planned Chinese concert dates may be
scrapped, too.
Jurassic World just
keeps raking it in
THE fourth instalment in the Jurassic Park film series,
Jurassic World, has moved into third place on the list of
the highest- grossing movies in history, with US$ 1.52 billion
in worldwide revenue and counting.
I think we all know what that means, don't we? Yup. Universal
Pictures has announced another sequel will open on
June 22, 2018.
The studio says the film, which does not yet have a title,
will include Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. ( The
studio didn't say if she'll be running in heels again.)
Colin Trevorrow, who directed Jurassic World , will be a
screenwriter and executive producer, but Universal hasn't
named a director.
( Jurassic World has a long way to go before it surpasses
either of the two highest- grossing movies ever. Avatar
brought in US$ 2.79 billion, while Titanic made US$ 2.18
billion.)
Rapper still insists he's not rich
WHAT a treat to see rapper 50 Cent
insisting he's a phoney.
Tuesday, in a Manhattan courtroom,
the rapper claimed his flashy lifestyle
was just " entertainment." He's painting
himself as poor to avoid high punitive
damages in that lawsuit I've been
telling you about. ( He's already been
ordered to pay at least US$ 5 million to
Lastonia Leviston after a jury ruled he
doctored and promulgated a sex tape
of her without permission. He's even
filed for bankruptcy.)
Yes, he bought a Rolls- Royce, he
said, but only by trading in his Lamborghini.
His other cars are leased. His US$ 1.6- million wager on
a Floyd Mayweather fight was bogus. His gold chains are loaners.
And so on. His " get rich or die tryin' " lifestyle is just " entertainment,"
he claimed.
On cross- examination, he admitted to a US$ 80- million deal with
Reebok, a 17- acre estate and mansion in Connecticut, a big profit
on his Vitamin Water venture, and more. But, you know, poverty is
really a state of mind.
