The downtown homeless shelter said Oanh Pham had been a member of the volunteerservices support team since October 2014. Siloam acting executive director Garry Corbett expressed his sorrow in a statement. “ We have lost a part of our family. Each one of us feel that sudden, aching emptiness. But even more so, we are heartbroken for her family. Our prayers, our condolences and our love are fully directed to them to bring them comfort in the face of such tragedy.” The collision took place shortly after 8: 30 a. m. at the intersection of Logan Avenue and King Street. Pham, 33, was walking to work when she was struck by a vehicle turning north onto King. Alvin Henderson said he witnessed the incident from his vehicle. He said he was driving alongside a large, white truck when he saw a woman crossing King at Logan. Henderson said he saw the crash in his rear- view mirror, although he said it appeared the driver did not realize what had happened. Henderson said he quickly flagged down the driver of the dump truck and told him of the collision, at which point the driver got out of the truck to attempt to help the pedestrian. “ It was too late,” Henderson said.
