Brown buys a Beast
CHRIS Brown paid US$ 200,000 - that's $ 35,000
over list price - to get the first Rezvani Beast made.
Me neither, but TMZ. com fills us in: it's a
" 500- horsepower, street- legal race car" which has
no doors or roof. Apparently it will get you from 0 to
60 m. p. h. ( 96.5 km/ h) in just 2.7 seconds. He paid the
extra to get rush delivery of the first one assembled
for sale.
So: Chris Brown in a car like that: what could possibly
go wrong?
So, is it Jennistin or Justifer?
THERE'S now plenty of detail about the Jennifer Aniston- Justin Theroux wedding last week, at their
mansion in L. A.' s Bel- Air district.
Guests were expecting a surprise birthday party for Theroux, who turns 44 Monday; many were
underdressed for a wedding. Guest included Jimmy Kimmel, Jason Bateman, Tobey Maguire, Ellen De-
Generes and Portia de Rossi, Howard Stern, Sia, Will Arnett, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Emily Blunt
and John Krasinski - about 80 in all. The party continued until after 3 a. m.
Cox was maid of honour. Theroux's buddy, Scott Campbell, husband of Lake Bell, was best man. The
wedding cake was topped by two little Muppet- like figures. The couple private- jetted to Bora Bora for
their honeymoon.
But what now? The gossip rags have devoted years to " the poor- Jen problem," so the Guardian , in
England, is asking this poignant question: " What will the tabloids do now?"
Sgt. Pepper
is ' rubbish': Richards
IN an entertaining new Esquire interview, Keith Richards covers a lot of
territory, and along the way explains what was wrong with the Beatles' Sgt.
Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album:
" The Beatles sounded great when they were the Beatles. But there's not a
lot of roots in that music. I think they got carried away. Why not? If you're
the Beatles in the ' 60s, you just get carried away - you forget what it is you
wanted to do. You're starting to do Sgt. Pepper . Some people think it's a genius
album, but I think it's a mishmash of rubbish."
Hillary a Belieber?
JUSTIN Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, and his wife, Yael, were the hosts
Thursday for a Hillary Clinton fundraising party at their home in Los Angeles,
the Washington Post reported.
The " Conversation with Hillary" event reportedly had a ticket price, so to
speak, of US$ 2,700 minimum.
Canada's most infamous export was not in attendance, but the article's
headline did raise a question we must all find truly disturbing, considering
Hillary may be the next U. S. president: " Is Hillary a Belieber?"
To be Blunt,
she's an American now
EMILY Blunt, born in the London suburb of Roehampton, became a U. S.
citizen Tuesday in a private official ceremony in L. A. Her hubby, actor John
Krasinski, was there for her big day.
Sworn in as an American at the same time and place was Camila Alves,
Brazilian- born wife of actor Matthew McConaughey. Those two brought their
three kids along.
Zoolander 2 teaser out of this world
THAT'S not really Stephen Hawking, it turns out, narrating this new teaser for Zoolander
2 , the sequel to Ben Stiller's 2001 comedy about brain- dead male models. Sure
sounds like him, though.
And it's a great teaser: In that distinctive robo- voice, " Hawking" speaks in voiceover
as we see images invoking the big bang, the beginning of time, the vastness of
space, evolution, etc. But the images get sneakily goofier, in sly allusions to the first
movie.
Finally the narrator moves from cosmic marvels to " the human brain, the pinnacle
of billions of years of evolution," able to ponder " the one question that has
puzzled mankind since the beginning of time."
Cut to Stiller, in character, asking, " If God exists, then why did he make ugly
people?"
The movie's due in February.
Jackman gives
Ethiopian coffee grower a jolt
HUGH Jackman has made a deal with Keurig to put his Laughing Man coffee
into those little single- serving capsules the company makes, Forbes magazine
reports.
Laughing Man Dukale's Dream, as the product will be called, is " fair trade"
- meaning " it meets certain environmental, labour, and developmental standards
in its production," Forbes explains.
Jackman tells the mag that Laughing Man is " a labour of love" that began
when he visited Ethiopia in 2009, and met a small- scale coffee grower named
Dukale. " I was so touched by how hard hard he worked and how little benefit
he reaped. I felt compelled to make a promise to him to help out."
So Jackman launched a foundation, opened two New York coffee shops, and
now this. His efforts dovetail neatly with Keurig, which Forbes says is the
world's largest purchaser of fair trade- certified coffee.
