VICTOR BORGFORD
Peacefully on September 23, 2021 at Betel
Home Foundation in Selkirk, Victor Borgford
graduated to his home in Heaven. He will
have no more sickness and pain and will have
his new body to meet Jesus and his family
and friends who have gone before him.
He will be with his Mom and Dad, Stebba
and Gusti; and his older brother Steinie who
predeceased him. Victor will be missed by his
family - his wife Donna, of 52 years; children,
Cherry and Tim; grandchildren, Tyler,
Armanda and Jonathan (Corrina); great-
grandchildren, Nevaeh, Taylor and Melaysia;
brother Ben (Jona); sister Vangie (David);
sister-in-law Barbara; honorary family
members, Pat Main and Curtis Monkman;
many nieces and nephews, as well as many
other family members and friends.
Victor was born on August 16, 1939 at the
family home outside of Arborg, MB. Victor
loved music and taught himself how to play
the guitar. He started playing in a band with
his cousin Coleen, when he was 18 years old
and played most of his life thereafter, only
taking a break when the band members had
young children. He also played in the band at
New Life Community Church (now known as
Springs Church - Selkirk) and also with other
friends. Victor started his career teaching
elementary school in 1965 in one-room
schools in the Arborg area. He later went to
university in Grand Forks where he obtained
a Bachelor of Science in Education with a
Major in Industrial Arts. He then taught
Industrial Arts first in Fort Richmond
Collegiate and then Acadia Junior High. In
the early years when they lived in Winnipeg,
Victor and Donna were avid travellers. They
went on a round-the-world trip one summer
during school break and other years travelled
to many parts of Canada and the U.S. with a
travel trailer that Victor designed and built.
Later Victor and Donna moved to an acreage
outside Lockport where Victor designed and
built his own home. He also designed the
interior of what is now known as Springs
Church - Selkirk and was instrumental in
building the interior and doing the finishing.
It is a historic building, formerly a bus
garage so the exterior could not be touched.
Victor spent his summers hobby farming.
Victor retired in 1997 and thereafter spent his
time building or fixing things. We would
always say, "Ask Victor, he will know what to
do." He will be greatly missed by many.
Special thanks to all the wonderful people
at Betel Home who looked after Victor so
well and were like friends to him.
A celebration of Victor’s life will be held at
Springs Church Winnipeg, 725 Lagimodiere
Blvd., on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 11:00
a.m. with Pastor Ernie Goertzen officiating.
Everyone is welcome to attend. Face masks
are required. Interment will be Brookside
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be
greatly appreciated to Betel Home
Foundation - Selkirk, Recreation Fund, 212
Manchester Avenue, Selkirk, MB R1A 0B6
(Victor loved all the musicians that they
would bring in to play for the residents); to
Youth for Christ Selkirk, 426 Clandeboye
Ave., Selkirk, MB R1A 0X6, (Victor and
Donna had a heart for the youth and many of
them passed through their home at some time
or other); or to a charity of your choice.
Rest in peace, Victor!

TERENCE CLIFFORD
December 28, 1936 – September 23, 2021
With sadness the family announces the
passing of Terry Clifford on September 23,
2021, at Riverview Health Centre at the age
of 84.
Terry was born of humble beginnings in
Margate, Kent, England on December 28,
1936 to Connie and Edward Clifford. Terry’s
closest sibling was his brother Anthony
(Tony). He had a number of considerably
older half-sisters and brothers as Connie and
Edward had previous marriages. Connie’s
youngest daughter Margaret returned home
to help her mother raise Terry and Tony after
their father died in 1949 of lung problems
sustained during his career as a coal miner
and general labourer. Margaret remained a
constant in Terry’s life until her passing in
2014.
Terry attended Chatham House School in
Margate. He served his compulsory military
service in the British Army from 1955 to
1957. He was in the Royal Fusiliers and his
service included going to Suez during the
crisis in 1957 and he once stood guard at
Buckingham Palace. Following his military
service, he attended St. Mary’s Teachers’
College in Twickenham from 1957 to 1960. He
majored in Pure Mathematics, Applied
Mathematics and Physics and enjoyed
playing rugby. He taught school, mainly
math, in London and in Bristol. He married
Anne Sivewright and they had two sons, Paul
and Simon.
In 1968 a recruiter from Winnipeg School
Division came to England seeking teachers.
When asked why he decided to make the
move Terry said that he could see his career
stretching out ahead of him with very little
change or challenge for the next 30 years. He
wanted something more and so he and his
family boarded the Empress of Canada and
sailed across to Canada. One of his first
summers in Canada was spent travelling to
Eastern Canada on a camping trip with his
family.
In Canada Terry began teaching
Mathematics at General Wolfe School and
eventually moved to Gordon Bell High School
and then became the Math Consultant for
Winnipeg School Division. He enjoyed his
work in program development and doing in-
services and working with other teachers. He
became heavily involved in the union side of
things with the Winnipeg Teachers’
Association and then with the Manitoba
Teachers Society becoming president of both
these organizations. In that capacity he
travelled to several overseas conferences. He
had a strong interest in Early Childhood
Education and was an advocate for universal
programs.
His first marriage ended in the early 1970s
and in 1984 he married Gayle Robertson and
their daughter Sarah was born the next year.
Paul and his family live in Sweden; Simon and
his family live in Ottawa; Sarah and her
family live here in Winnipeg. Both sons are in
the computer business and Sarah followed
her father’s footsteps and teaches high school
Physics.
Terry and Gayle took a deferred salary
leave during the school year 1987-1988 and
packed up their two-year-old daughter and
travelled around the world for a year. Stops
included time with family in England, across
to Europe, and then to Greece and Cyprus.
They spent Christmas in Abu Dhabi with
Terry’s brother Tony and then were off to
India, Thailand, Burma, trekking in Nepal,
and to Bali where they celebrated Sarah’s
third birthday. Australia and New Zealand
were next followed by Hong Kong and a trip
to China accompanied by Gayle’s sister
Maureen. Subsequent years included trips to
Cambodia, Vietnam, Singapore (where Tony
was living), China, South America including
the Galapagos. Machu Picchu, a trip up the
Amazon and down to Tierra del Fuego where
he was interested to sail by the Falklands.
Recent winters have included cruises, time in
Mexico and there were certainly plans for
future travel.
Terry enjoyed spending time puttering
around at the family cottage at Royal Lake in
the summers. He went on regular walks with
the dogs Scruffy and Daisy. He enjoyed
weekly bridge and golf games with friends
and meetings with Sharecroppers as well as
lunches with TLC. Terry would say he was a
reasonable bridge player and a ‘not-very-
good’ golfer. His friends would say he was a
very good bridge player and agree that he
was a ‘not-very-good’ golfer. All would agree
that Terry’s sense of humour and penchant
for puns were a source of amusement (and
sometimes groaning) for those around him.
He enjoyed puzzles and games of all kinds.
Terry will be sadly missed by his family.
He is survived by his wife Gayle; his
children, Paul (Lisa), Simon (Stacey) and
Sarah (Wilson); and four grandchildren, Liam
and Viggo Clifford, Ryan Clifford and Noa
Santiago. He is also survived by his nephew
Anthony who also carries on the Clifford
name. He was predeceased by his older sister
Margaret and his younger brother Anthony
both in 2014, as well as all of his other
siblings.
Cremation has taken place and a gathering
celebrating his life will be held on
Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 11:00
a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the reception area of
Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Avenue
at Henderson Highway. Current Covid
protocols will be observed and masks must be
worn. At the family’s request guests are
asked to be vaccinated.
The family thanks Dr. Colangelo, Terry’s
home care workers and the hospital staff,
particularly those at Riverview Palliative
Centre, for all their kindness and care.
Should friends wish donations may be made
to the Heart and Stroke Foundation,
Parkinson Canada, Operation Smile or Angkor
Hospital for Children.

LORETTA PHYLLIS LIVESEY
(nee BUSCH)
September 11, 1935 - September 11, 2021
It is with sadness, we announce the passing
of Loretta Phyllis Livesey on September 11,
2021 from heart related issues at the age of
86 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Phyllis lived her
final days with courage and fortitude while
facing life’s challenges.
She will be sadly missed by her children,
Suzanne Livesey, Dale Livesey, Leanna
Prudhomme; her grandchildren, Kelly-Anne
Calisto (Shawn), Shannon-Lee Livesey, Logan
Livesey, Jeremiah Pliche, Joshua
Prudhomme; great-grandchildren, Hunter
Livesey and Jonathan Calisto as well as
numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and
friends. She will also be greatly missed by
her sister Marlene Clint of Surrey, BC.
Phyllis was predeceased by her parents,
Phillip and Annie Busch; brothers, Delbert,
Lorne, Dennis and Bob Busch.
Phyllis was born in 1935 in McNutt,
Saskatchewan. She went to school in Alameda
and worked doing housekeeping and cleaning.
In her early 20’s she worked for Eaton’s store.
Phyllis was married in Winnipeg, MB and
lived the military lifestyle spending years as
a homemaker and raising her children. As a
single mother, raising three kids and learning
job skills Phyllis persevered. She worked at
administrative jobs and eventually worked as
a homecare worker from which she retired.
Mom had a hard life, but a life well lived.
She was determined to be as independent as
possible. Phyllis was immensely proud of her
family and affectionately known as “Granny”.
She had an extensive recipe collection and
took great pride in sharing her baking and
cooking with family and friends. She enjoyed
sewing and making clothes. Over the years
Mom was a member of the Legion, different
social clubs and activities, including darts,
bowling, bingo, bridge, ballroom and square
dancing, where she won many trophies and
made many friends. Mom had a special
compassion and devotion for animals.
Especially the cats she loved, nurtured,
protected, and cared for throughout her life.
This passion has been passed down to her
children who continue to care and love the
various felines in our lives.
Mom cherished her friends and the
friendships she had, some of her friends
having been lifelong. Mom greatly enjoyed
family and friends’ company, whether it was
on the phone or going for coffee. Thank you
to all those who called her on her birthday
and let her know she was loved, and cared for
before she died.
Mom was very close to her sister Marlene,
and even though you couldn’t tell Mom
anything, they would always stand up for
each other. Marlene called and wished Mom a
“Happy Birthday”, on September 11, not
knowing Mom would pass away that evening.
Dale had also phoned Mom that morning, not
knowing…. Mom was so looking forward to
seeing Dale. Even though they talked
frequently she had not seen him in eleven
years. She constantly worried about him and
was overjoyed he was coming up from
Washington, USA. Even though Dale had tried
to arrange a flight to Winnipeg, they were
cancelled, numerous times. Dale finally
arrived on September 13, but sadly Mom had
passed.
“Mom you taught me so much
and I am very proud of you.”
“May your Heaven be filled with
our love and your beloved cats.”
Your son Dale
In honour of Mom, we will recognize her
spirit, devotion, passion and resilience of
having done it her way.
Thank you to Dr. A. Mohammed for his
kindness and professional care. Also thank
you to the Homecare Team from Access
Winnipeg West for their help and
commitment to Mom’s health. Thank you to
the St. James Kiwanis Court Staff as well as
the Gray family for their support.
Cremation has taken place and in
compliance with Phyllis’ wishes no service
will be held.
Donations can be made to your
favourite animal shelter.
ANDREW GRAYDON KELCH

Left to mourn Andrew’s memory are his
wife of 29 years, Patty; children, Cassidy
(David) and Carter; brother Chris (Cathy),
sister Brenda (Jim), and nieces and nephews.
He was a great father, husband and friend
who will be deeply missed.
Andrew was an electrician by trade,
spending his last decade with McCaine
Electric. He especially enjoyed his time at

buddy Keith having a cold one and where he
would be driving his first love, his Yamaha
Jet boat.

their love and support.
JOSEPH EMILE VAN SCHEPDAEL
Joseph Emile Van Schepdael, 88 years of
age, passed away on September 23, 2021, at
the family farm that he and his wife, Mary
Lou, and family built in East Selkirk,
Manitoba.
Joe was born on June 17, 1933, in Pamel,
Belgium, to parents, Emile Van Schepdael
and Josephine Van Schepdael (nee Roedsens).
He was the oldest of six children.
Dad grew up going to a boarding school and
helping his family in their farm supply
business. After the Second World War, the
decision was made to sell that business and
move the family to Canada, so in 1953, Dad
and his younger brother Steve came to
Canada to find a place for the rest of the
family to settle, in hope of avoiding another
war in Europe. The family joined them the
following year and settled on a farm in
Belmont, Manitoba.
Dad met our Mom, Marie Louise
Dejonckheere, and they married on June 1,
1963. Together they had three children,
Michael (Lisa), Danny, and Lou-Ann (Joe
Andrews), and through endless hard work and
sacrifice, built a farm, from very modest
beginnings, starting in 1966. That farm
continues on, under the guidance of their son
Dan.
Joe was a very proud Canadian and farmer.
He was a pioneer in the hog industry, being
one of the first delegates on Manitoba Pork,
sitting on the Farm Debt Review Board, and
always advocating for the industry. Mom and
Dad were partners of Genesus Inc. and Dad
was very proud of the company’s growth. He
loved farming, particularly combining, and
took great delight in discussing all things
farm related. Retirement was never an option
for Dad, and he continued to work full time
into his 87th year.
Dad was always a very positive person who
took things in stride. His main source of pride
was his family, especially his grandchildren,
Matthew, Mikaela, Tyler, Tia, Jessica,
Nicolas, Tazlyn, and Danica.
The best thing our Dad ever did was marry
our Mom. Together they had a strong, happy
58 year marriage, raised a family, and gave
us every opportunity to do well. Due to Mom’s
great care giving, Dad was able to stay at
home throughout his illness, with Mom by his
side until the very end.
Joe is survived by two sisters, Godelieve
Bennet and Emily van de Bennet, brother-in-
law John Dejonckheere, and many nieces and
nephews. He was predeceased by his parents,
his brother Steve and partner Lauretta; two
sisters, Christianne in infancy and Rita
Dodds; sister-in-law Lorraine Dejonckheere;
John’s partner Linda Clarke; and brothers-in-
law, Joe van de Bennet, Frank Bennet, Jack
Dodds, and Carl Dejonckheere.
He will be remembered as a kind, friendly,
and hard working person. He will be dearly
missed by his family.
We go forward very proud of what he did in
his life and grateful that we had him with us
for so long.
A Celebration of Life and Funeral Mass will
be held on Thursday, September 30 at 1:00
p.m. at the Notre Dame Catholic Church, 269
Jemima Street, Selkirk, Manitoba. Interment
of ashes at Brookside Cemetery,
Walkleyburg. A recording of the service will
be available to view the following day on the
Gilbart Funeral Home website.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you
consider donating to a charity of your choice.
Condolences may be left on his tribute wall at
www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk
in care of arrangements.

ASK AN ESTATE
LAWYER
What if there is a will but
no executor?
There are several circumstances in
which there may be a will but no
executor to act as the representative
of the estate.
The role of executor is a voluntary
position and the individual named
in the will may not be willing or
able to act for the estate. In this
scenario, the executor would sign a
renunciation form which formally
gives up the executor’s right to be
appointed. A similar situation may
arise where there is an executor
named in the will but that person
has predeceased the will maker.
In both scenarios, if the will
names an alternate executor, that
individual has the right to apply to
court for the Grant of Probate.
If there is no alternate executor
named, or if the will never named
an executor (which may happen
with handwritten wills), the next-
of-kin residing in Manitoba may
apply as the administrator for
Letters of Administration with Will
Annexed.
All next-of-kin with equal or
prior right to apply to administer
the estate must either apply
with the administrator or sign a
renunciation to be filed in court
with the application.
If you would like to receive a
FREE information package about
probate and administration or if
you would like to schedule an
appointment to speak to an estate
lawyer, please contact our office.
