MALCOLM KEITH MCGREGOR
July 14, 1930 - October 9, 2025
Keith passed away with family by his
side at Poseidon Care Centre.
He was predeceased by his wife Doreen
and daughter Maureen. He is survived
by his sons, Bruce, Warren Bates
(Maureen), Doug (Karen), and Scott. As
well as four grandchildren, Kate (Paul
Carter), Lauren Bates (Adam Zabrodski),
Cameron, and Charlotte; and his great-
grandchildren, Max Zabrodski, Sydney
and Perrin Carter.
Dad grew up in St. Vital with his older
brother Laurie, attending Glenlawn
Collegiate and United College. During
the 1950 flood his family left their home
and were taken in by their friends the
Mulhollands. Dad and their daughter
eventually began to date. On August
23, 1952, six days after Doreen's 22nd
birthday, they were married at St. Paul's
United Church.
They had their first two children, Bruce
and Maureen, in Winnipeg. After the
birth of Doug, the family moved to
Calgary for two years for an
employment opportunity. In 1967,
came another opportunity, and the
family moved to Ottawa, where Scott
was born.
Upon the passing of his father, Dad
began to work with his brother at
Finmac Lumber. In 1973, the family
returned to Winnipeg, settling in
Riverview. Dad was a family man and a
great provider.
In later years, Scott lived with Mom and
Dad. This allowed Dad to remain in their
home until just before his 93rd
birthday. Our parents were fortunate to
have Scott's dedicated help.
The family would like to thank the staff
of Poseidon Care Centre for their
compassionate care, as well as the staff
at the Grace and Dr. J Brian Sharkey in
particular.
Dad, you are suffering no longer and
had a life well-lived with a family who
loved you.

GILBERT NADEAU
It is with deep love and sadness that
the family of Gilbert Marcel Nadeau
announces his peaceful passing,
surrounded by immediate family on
November 13, 2025, at the Boyne
Lodge in Carman, MB. Gilbert was born
to parents Cécile and Celestin Nadeau
on June 14, 1936, in Elm Creek, MB.
Gilbert lived a life deeply rooted in
farming and family; he was a devoted
husband, father, grandfather, great-
grandfather and friend to many.
With his wife, Joyce Nadeau, Gilbert
shared a loving marriage of a
remarkable 66 years. Together they
built a life filled with laughter, hard
work, and devotion to one another.
Gilbert’s pride and joy extended to his
only child, Brian Nadeau, daughter-in-
law Rachelle, and his beloved
granddaughters, Janelle (Toby) and
Kara (Pierre), along with his four great-
grandchildren, who brought him
endless happiness and pride.
Cherishing Gilbert’s memory are his
siblings, Vivian, Gerry and Diane. He is
predeceased by his father and mother,
his sister Beatrice and his brother René.
Farming wasn’t just Gilbert’s job - it was
his passion and life's work. He spent
countless hours tending to the fields,
and was always dreaming up new ideas
and innovative ways to improve the
farm. His ingenuity led him to design
and build machinery that didn’t
previously exist, one of the many
testaments to his determination and
creativity. He then established Nadeau
Seeds Inc. and invented and sold the
Rotary Ditcher. Even in quiet moments
away, Gilbert’s mind was never far from
the land he loved so much.
Those who knew Gilbert will remember
his laugh, inventive spirit, kindness to
others and his love for his wife and
family. He always appreciated time
spent with his kin and friends, and he
did his best to create comfort in the
people around him.
A funeral service will be held at Sacred
Heart Church in Fannystelle, MB at
11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 22,
2025. Reception to follow at the
Starbuck Hall in Starbuck, MB, where
friends and family will gather to
celebrate Gilbert’s life and share
memories of the man who meant so
much to them.
The funeral service will be coordinated
by Adam’s Funeral Home. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be offered to
the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Thank you
to Boyne Lodge for the incredible care
and kindness that the staff all provided
to Gil and the family throughout.
Gilbert’s legacy of love, laughter, and
dedication will continue to grow in the
fields he watched over as well as in the
hearts of all who were lucky to know
him.

KENNETH WILLIAM OSBORNE
On Thursday, November 6, 2025, after
several months of ill health, Ken
Osborne left us at the age of 88.
Ken will be lovingly remembered and
sorely missed by his wife Janet and
their sons, Andrew of Winnipeg and
Richard of Jackson, Tennessee, and their
wives, Anu and Dodie.
Ken was born in Coventry, England, and
married Janet there. They emigrated to
Winnipeg in 1961. An Oxford graduate
and gifted teacher, Ken taught history
at Daniel McIntyre Collegiate for twelve
years, and then the teaching of history
at the University of Manitoba until his
retirement in 1996.
Ken’s work displayed deep scholarship,
a commitment to the betterment of his
community and country and concern
for his students. His priorities were
critical thinking, citizenship and peace
studies. He published several books
and many academic articles and was in
demand as a speaker provincially,
nationally and internationally. He was
honored with many awards.
As Professor Emeritus he found time to
further pursue the connection between
peace and education and to unearth
details on the history of teaching
history. He especially advocated the
ideas of H.G. Wells for the use of the
teaching of history as a means of
promoting world peace.
Although his career necessitated travel,
he was essentially a stay-at-home guy
who was most content to be with his
family and to work in the garden with
Janet. He enjoyed making curry and
listening to jazz as he read countless
books from the pile around his reading
chair. He left home once a week for
sessions as a jazz drummer with a
number of his friends.
He touched many lives, and his work
has had a continuing effect in the
classrooms of Manitoba.
The family thanks the staff of the
Poseidon Care Centre for looking after
Ken during his final days.
A private cremation has taken place. A
remembrance celebration with family
will be held.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Gifts
honouring Ken can be made to the
charity of your choice, or to the
University of Manitoba at:
